Imagine you decide to handle your own Municipal Court and/or Justice Court traffic citation. Your court date is set for 9:30 a.m. You arrive at 9:15 a.m. thinking you have enough time. As you arrive at the Regional Justice Center, all of a sudden, you find yourself waiting in a 1-hour line just to get through the main door. Now you arrive at 11:00 a.m. for your 9:30 a.m appointment. The Department you were suppose to appear in has its door closed. You leave. You get to your vehicle only to find a citation for an expired meter. You later find out a warrant was issued.
This is not an uncommon story. The Regional Justice Center needs to improve its procedure. There is no excuse! Our judicial system needs to be efficient. Improvements MUST be made. In the mean time, it is highly recommended you show up for your court date at least 1 hour before your set appointment. In the alternative, hire an attorney to handle your citation and avoid the line if possible.
